It's official - school's almost out for the year. We're pretty much the only school district in the state that's still in session though. There are 3 more days of school and 1 more teacher workday left. There's something like 175 days of school for kids but teachers have 187 contract days in our district. I think that may be a high number compared to other districts around us. I think we're still in session because we take so many professional development days. Either way, I'm pumped that school's almost out. I signed up for a few in-services this summer that sound very interesting and I'm going to help out with some new teacher stuff too. We've also signed Libby up for a Tumble Bee class once a week that I think may help her out of her shell in terms of motor skills. She's been timid about a lot of things - it seems she wants to know she can do it perfectly before she'll even try to crawl, stand, etc. That worries me a little bit because I see kids like this a lot and they are often unhappy at school because they can't do it "right" the first time and those thoughts consume them. Mistakes are for learning. Oops.. there I go into my counselor talk.... Anyway, school's almost out and I'm happy!
