Last night while we were feeding Libby her rice cereal (the only "solid" food she's had so far) she stopped between bites and said "This stuff's good". I can't believe she said it! How can that stuff be any good - it smells terrible! Just wait until you try bananas kiddo.

Weekend
Mike's grandma, Mama Dale passed away on Saturday night. Our last visit with her was at Christmas and was a wonderful one. We will have good memories. She has seen many many pictures and video of Libby.
I'm home today with a mild case of food poisoning. I will spare you the details but that's why I'm able to post on a Monday morning.
Libby is really wanting to sit up these days. We often catch her sticking her neck and head out and trying to lean forward. She still hasn't quite gotten the hang of rolling over but will soon. Maybe she'll learn to sit before she rolls!

Here are some of the latest pictures.

My dress tastes so good!
I have lots of stories to tell.

Columbia Sports Fans
A couple of nights ago, we decided to go to the mall and walk around...mind you, this is not exactly a novel option for us - we do it probably 4 times a week or so. Regardless, in between getting attacked by the Lotion Nazis and seeing one of Tricia's fellow counselors (as we do about 90% of the time when we're there), we saw a spectacle of a man wandering the mall. Now, this man was pushing a cart, which looked to me like a newspaper cart like the paper-people from my birth-town (Logan, WV) used to push. That's not the spectacle about it. The guy was pretty overweight, which again isn't the spectacle. He was also wearing 3 fanny packs...that's right, 3. Not just one in the front, which is bad enough (but apparently that doesn't stop Hulk Hogan). Not two on either side. But 3 - one in the front, one on the left, and one on the right. Is is that necessary to wear 3 fanny packs? Seriously, what can one person put into 3 fanny packs?
Now, what got me thinking about this guy and this blog entry was his choice of clothing. He was wearing a St. Louis Cardinals hat and a white Kansas City Chiefs jersey. This is the epitome of the Columbia, MO sports fan - they love those teams in red apparently. Me as an outsider to this state just does not grasp this phenomenon. Depending on who you talk to, and where they are originally from (either KC or STL), they think the other side of the state is either a) backwards (STL people about KC) or b) pretentious (KC people about STL). Here we are, smack dab in the middle of the two, and our residents want to have their cake and eat it too. I'm telling you, I think they just like red. In my opinion, if you are going to root for one team within a state, you should just stick with city loyalty. Hey, I'm sure that I'm wrong, but I just think it's ridiculous. My opinion on the CoMo sports fans - pick a side of the state. Sure the Royals may be awful, but if you're going to be a die-hard Chiefs fan, root for those guys. The Rams may have seen their glory days pass them by, but they need some love from Cards fans too.
On second thought, maybe the Rams fans could pair up with the Royals fans - both of those teams are predominately blue, if fashion really matters!

Lotion Nazis
Libby and I have spent quite a bit of time at the mall lately. It's nice and cool and I can get a decent walk in while I'm there. Well, there's a Seacret Spa lotion kiosk strategically placed between Target and JCPenney, which happen to be my main attractions at the mall. The lotion girls and guys stand on either side of the kiosk and hold out the tubes of lotion like they are gold and ask "Lotion?". I always say no because I know I am not going to buy their products. Well, now they have the lotion freaks asking "Can I ask you a question?" after you say no to a sample of lotion. They want to know if you keep your nails natural, although I'm not sure why because I always say that I'm not interested. Now after all that explaining... I really want to be much ruder than that to the lotion people because EVERY time I walk by I get harassed and what's worse is that now there are TWO Seacret Spa kiosks in the same mall!!! So, if I walk from one end of the mall 2 times (which is pretty normal for me) I get harassed EIGHT times!! I would love to ask them how much money they make to harass me. Or another one I daydream about is to tell them that if I was in fact interested, I would stop and ask them about the product instead of them stopping me to tell me about it. Make sense? I think so.

Hi-Ho Hi-Ho, it's off to work we go....
I dropped Libby off at daycare this morning and then proceeded to cry for the next hour. I finally got it together by the start of our faculty meeting. After that I was fine for the rest of the day. I am happy to be back at work but I wasn't ready for the feeling I was going to have when I dropped her off even though I trust my daycare provider 100%. Hopefully Monday will be better for me.

The eve of going back to work
I have to return to work tomorrow after almost 4 months off with Libby. It's a little bittersweet for me. I'm excited to return to work for several reasons but I'm also a little bummed that I might miss a few things with Libby. She hasn't quite figured out how to roll over yet and I'm sure she'll figure it out at daycare. I don't want to miss that or anything else.
On our last "free" day of summer we went to the pool and took a great nap together. We usually go to an indoor pool and she loves it. Today we went to an outdoor pool and she wasn't as happy. The water was really cold and she didn't want anything to do with it (luckily the baby area is only 1 foot deep so she didn't have to get it at all). She also had to wear a hat there which upset her quite a bit. But she did seem to enjoy the rest of the day with me.
Here's a picture of her today. She kept glancing over her shoulder at the TV while I was trying to take it. I never did get her full attention.

Words and more
Friday night we were at the mall and saw a teacher I work with and her husband. We stopped to talk to them for a little while and Libby said "goodbye" loud and clear during our conversation. Now, I don't know what the 'rules' are for first words but I'm pretty sure that the child has to know the meaning of the word as well. At least that's what I'm saying. :)
Last night Libby's pacifier fell out of her mouth and she picked it up and waved it around almost as if she was saying "I like this but don't know how to put it back in my mouth. Please help me." It was really cute.
That's all for now!

Yum Yum Cereal
This morning, Miss Libby got her first taste of "real" food - she experienced Rice Cereal. We gave her about 4 small spoons of it before she got fussy. She seemed to like it fairly well. Of course, this was documented on film and we've gotta share the pics with you all - enjoy!

4 Month Shots
Libby had to go get her 4 month shots today. Poor baby!! While we were there she was measured and weighed. She now weighs 14 pounds and 10 ounces (80th percentile) and is 24 inches long (55th percentile). And her poor little head circumference is only in the 25th percentile. She has my little head. If I had given birth vaginally I'm sure I would be extremely grateful!!

Baptism
Libby was baptized today. It was nice and she was dressed so cute in her gown and little ruffled shoes. She was very well behaved once we got in and cooled her off. She didn't cry once during the ceremony. And of course, she was the cutest baby there!

Free agent (at least until Saturday)
I had to take my wedding ring in to get resized. I know what many of you are thinking - of course, you had a baby and your fingers and/or knuckles are now too big for the ring. If you are thinking that, then you are wrong. My ring is actually too big for me. When I wash my hands or shower my ring feels like it will fall off. Why is it that all the work I've been doing to lose the rest of the baby weight is showing up in my fingers?! I'd rather it come off my butt or stomach, but no, I lost weight in my hands.
