If you don't know, our cat Bubba (Karl) has recently been diagnosed with feline diabetes. We have to give him insulin shots and feed him special food. The upside of this food is that it is diet food which may force our very fat cat, Zebby to lose some weight too. Anyway, until the vet gets his insulin regulated Bubba has to go to the vet every 7-10 days and stay the whole day for observation. Libby and I took him on Thursday and she was very upset about leaving him there. First of all, he doesn't travel in the car well and will make very interesting noises. Libby was telling me, "Mimi, Bubba is scared." "Bubba is sad." the whole way to the vet and from the vet. She cried when they took him to the back room too. She is very attached to him.

I'm on a roll
I've been quite productive today while Libby was at daycare. I got dinner ready to cook (all I have to do it heat it up). I went to school and put up a bulletin board. I got an allergy shot. I fixed our broken garbage disposal. Mike broke it while I was in KC and I got online and diagnosed the problem, went to Home Depot and got the took I needed, came home and fixed it! I also changed the background of the blog. And, hey! I've blogged 3 days in a row! Go me!
I'm obsessed with trying to fix up Libby's hair. It's all because of a blog I saw on another friends blog - Hair Today. After I picked her up from daycare today I tried another version of yesterday's with more elastic bands. I think it's cute and makes my baby look like a little girl. I think her hair is still too fine and short for braids so this will have to do.
This is what happens at our house when Libby says she wants to use the potty. It's really just her excuse to run around the house without pants on. In this picture I'm reading her a potty book to try to entice her to sit on hers with little luck.

A first attempt
This is my first attempt at a hairdo that is more than just a ponytail or pigtails. Really, it's just a modified pigtail because Libby's bangs are too short to pull all the way up yet.
When I have more practice maybe I can make them more even but for now I'm pretty proud of myself. Please pay no attention to the "hurricane" that came through our living room...

Kansas City Trip
I just got back from a weekend trip to Kansas City, MO with my mom, cousin, and aunt. We had a good time. If you're ever up that way I recommend going to the Steamboat Arabia museum. It was pretty amazing. Anyway... while we were there we all got henna designs on our feet. Mine's starting to fade but still looks pretty cool. I was totally amazed that my cousin and I got our moms to do it too but they did!
We also decided to take a Segway tour of the Plaza. If you are ever in a city that offers these types of tours I highly recommend it. It was so much fun and just a really cool way to see some parts of a city. The one we took was about an hour long and I'm looking into one around Forrest Park in St. Louis. It's 3 hours long but would be so much fun!
While we were gone, I think Libby has grown up so much. She's initiating conversations and can actually carry one on a little bit. I called one night and asked to talk to her. This is how it went.
Me: Hi Libby.
Libby: Hi Mommy (Mimi). What are you doing?
Me: I'm sitting in the car. What are you doing?
Libby: Reading about snow. (this was more like "reading. snow" but I knew what she meant.)
Libby: Okay bye.
She never stops amazing me!

Burglar Tricia
I had to break into my own house this afternoon.
My parents have Libby and my car for a few days. Because they have my car, they also have my garage door opener and my house key because I forgot to get one out before I left my car with them. I called Mike who was about 2 hours from being home from work and asked him what he thought I should do. He said, climb the fence on one side where it is chainlink instead of a tall wooden privacy fence and go through the back. He was pretty sure that it might be open. It was open but while climbing over the fence I fell pretty hard and tore up my arm. I got to the top of the fence and was sitting up there wobbling trying to figure out how to get down without tearing my pants when it seems like I was just picked up and thrown at the ground. It's pretty sore and tender. If you've ever had turf burn, then you know what I'm talking about. Anyway, I guess it's the price to pay for my forgetfulness.

Hula Girl
One episode of Mickey Mouse Clubhouse has a Hula dance scene at the end. Without fail, Libby will go and sit SOOOO close to the TV and do this little dance along with the song. She saw me filming her and tried to look nonchalant about the whole thing.

Where is Daddy Duck?
If there are two objects (usually animals or people) or pictures and one of the objects is bigger than the other then Libby calls it the "mama". For example, last night she was in the bath and had three ducks - two small ones and a bigger one. The big one was "mama duck". (Funny enough, she knows they are mama but still calls me mimi.) Anyway, I asked her were the daddy duck was and she let out a loud belly laugh. I guess that was a stupid question...

Another recommendation

If you have little kids you have to get the dripstik. These things are great. They are frozen treat holders. One end holds ice cream cones and the other end holds popsicles. Then as they melt it just catches it and keeps the mess from getting all over the place. Libby eats her ice cream and popsicles so slowly that this is really helpful for us. I ordered some online but then later saw them at Hy-Vee which was a bummer since I paid shipping.

The Sneaky Chef

This book is great! Libby is in a phase where she doesn't want to eat ANY veggies. Is that a phase or is that just being 2? Anyway, this cookbook has lots of different recipes that have added veggies to kid friendly foods. Mike and I ate the mac and cheese the other day with Libby and it was BETTER than regular mac and cheese. It was actually kinda sweet. Now, I still think the best way to get kids to eat veggies and appreciate them is to offer them veggies at meals. But at least while Libby is throwing her veggies back at me, I will know she is getting some!

Our trip to West Virginia
We drove yet again to West Virginia this summer. Libby was a trooper in the car. We didn't get too many pictures on our camera but here are some of the cuter ones.
In the car on the way to WV!
Look closely and you will see that Libby is only pretending to be asleep. Who knows why she wanted that look but it is super cute.
This reminds me of a picture my parents have of me as a little girl.
We stopped for the night both going to and coming home from WV. On the way home, we put Libby's suitcase on the ground and she just picked it up and wheeled it into the hotel all on her own.
