We have our hands full

Libby has figured out how to log roll all over the place this week. She is a very active little girl now and is rarely seen sitting still. I have a feeling that she is going to be very into sports or something. She just has so much energy. It's fun to watch her try to figure out how to get to something since she isn't able to go in a straight line to it just yet. She will get up on her hands and knees like she's going to crawl but ends up going backwards instead. I guess that's coming soon too. Mike and I both think we're going to lose a lot of weight this upcoming year trying to keep up with her!

The Day After...

Libby's 1st Christmas went very well. The kid racked up, that's for sure. I think she got more toys, books, clothes and DVD's than Toys 'R Us. If she gets bored in the next, oh, 2 years, I don't know how! The whole day was overwhelming for her, seeing as there were 10 adults in the house. We all had a good day.

What are people doing with their kids?

When you buy infant sleepwear there is usually a bright yellow tag on it that says: "FOR CHILD’S SAFETY, GARMENT SHOULD FIT SNUGLY. THIS GARMENT IS NOT FLAME RESISTANT. LOOSE-FITTING GARMENT IS MORE LIKELY TO CATCH FIRE." I want to know what people are doing with their kids at night that the babies are catching fire! I don't know about other people but we are not putting Libby to bed over a campfire to keep her warm or anything. Are babies getting so hot at night that they are spontaneously combusting? These are things I think about in depth... Do I have too much time on my hands??

I made Mike a blanket out of fleece recently and he picked the pattern. He wanted the Yoda fleece because when he saw it he said, "Wrap up in me, you will." and he was sold on it...

I know many of you were probably starting to wonder if we'd been eaten by wild dogs because it had been that long since we've blogged. We've even had a few friends that we have not talked to in several months call us (I think just to check in) lately. Well, the news is that there is no news. We are both very busy at work and this has not been my month to be healthy. We both had the stomach bug that Libby had and then last weekend I had strep throat. I also found out that it is likely that I am a carrier for it and will likely get it many winters whenever I have a nasty cold. Am I lucky or what?! Other than that we are trying to get ready for Christmas like many of you. We are cleaning, buying food to cook, busy getting last minute gifts and finishing up the Christmas wrapping. Lucky for me, today was the last day of school of 2006 so it does free up a little time.

Smelly House o' Death

We're both home sick today. It really blows. Libby decided that it would be fun to share her stomach bug with mom and dad. Let me tell you, we're eternally grateful for that! Our house smells awful. We can't keep anything down. It's pretty bad...

We want to send a big thank you out to Richard Gee. Before he and Shana moved to Oklahoma, he gave us a snow shovel. We got a lot of use out of it this weekend. We hope you didn't need it!!

The Great Snow of 2006

Walking in a winter wonderland...OK, the great snow storm of 2006 has come and gone here in Mid-MO. For the 2nd straight day, Tricia had the day off. With Libby being sick on Wednesday to the 2 straight snow days, Tricia's had 2-day work weeks for the last 2 weeks...I'm jealous to say the least! My University was closed today as well. It's the 3rd time in the last 30 years that we've been closed. Pretty much everything around here is closed, and if it's not closed they're opening later on today. It doesn't matter to us - we're staying in the house today.

Everything really got going around 3pm or so yesterday. It sleeted/snowed until about 9, then it changed over to all snow. Sometime in the middle of the night, we heard thunder - we got thunder-snow! They said on the news this AM that when that happened, we were getting about 3 inches per hour. Woke up this morning and it was a complete white-out!

Grand totals for our house - 14 inches of snow on the ground, with drifts of 28 inches. This is more snow than we've had in the last 2 years combined! Enjoy the picture show!
