Libby's Perspective

Libby is totally in love with her sister. Brynn is not so much in love with Libby at this point. Libby is adjusting fairly well but has been acting out a little bit here and there. She has said some really funny things though about Brynn.

She wakes up each day and immediately asks where Brynn is. I told her one day that Brynn was still asleep in her bed and she said, "In her cage bed?" *Disclaimer: We do not actually make Brynn sleep in a cage.

Another day she told me she wanted to play with Brynn and I told her Brynn was too little to be able to play very much. She said, "She can play when she crawls." I told her that was true and then she said, "Crawl now, Brynn."

We'll try to get some more pictures posted this week.

Update on Brynn

We got to bring Brynn home on Sunday night. There was some talk of her staying in pediatrics and me going home without her. I was devastated at that thought. She did get to come home at the same time I did which was a huge relief. We have had to get her bilirubin level tested every day except today since she's been born though. Poor thing was very jaundice and her doctor has been keeping a close eye on her. We have to go get her blood tested again tomorrow and hopefully it will have gone down more.

Going Home... Later

Well, we didn't get home today. Brynn is pretty jaundice and the pediatrician on call didn't feel comfortable letting her go just yet. Hopefully, we will get to go home tomorrow. Brynn has just been very very sleepy and hasn't been eating much at all until today. We've pretty much forced her to eat today and she's starting to be more responsive. The doctor wanted us to use a special blanket to help her and it glows blue. We keep joking that she's a real live Glow Worm. Do you remember those dolls that light up when you squeeze them? They still make them and Libby has one she calls Baby Glow. Now her sister is a real life Baby Glow. The only difference is that Brynn doesn't sing a lullaby when you squeeze her!

Going Home

It looks like we're going to get to go home tomorrow! I'm surprised at how quickly my doctor is releasing me. She must feel like everything is going to go pretty smoothly. Brynn's doctor is okay with us going home tomorrow too, although we need to take her in on Monday for some blood work but nothing major.

Funny Blog

This post has nothing to do with a new baby, although I'm sure we'll post more pictures later today or tomorrow. I saw this blog and thought it was too funny not to share. "Enjoy!"

When Libby Met Brynn

Libby met her little sister for the first time this morning. As you can see from the picture, she is so happy to finally meet Brynn! Libby's giving Brynn hugs and kisses and wants to hold her as much as she can. We're so happy that she has embraced Brynn as well as she has!

Introducing Brynn Logan Kosher

Good evening all! At 7:43pm tonight, we welcomed Brynn Logan Kosher into our family. Mom and baby are doing well! Brynn weighed in at 7lbs, 8.5oz and is 19 inches long.

This time around felt so much different for Tricia and I as compared to Libby's birth (which for a refresher, check this out). Brynn was a planned C-Section all along as opposed to Libby, who got stuck during labor and had to come out via C-Section. Tricia had gone into early labor with Brynn and began having very regular contractions this AM at work. She went to the hospital around 11:30am and I joined her shortly thereafter. Since Brynn was a C all along, there was not the hustle and bustle going on around us like with Libby, but all in all, it went well.

Here are the just too eerie coincidences with Libby and Brynn:
- Both are girls (that's a given)
- Both born on Wednesdays
- Both born when Tricia's regular OB was on-call
- I wore an FSU shirt both times and not on purpose
- Both look alike...that's right, they look alike!

Of course, I know everyone wants pictures, so here are a couple.

For comparisons sake, here's Libby and Brynn at birth (Libby's on the top):

Libby's Birthday at School

Libby's school is so great. She loves to go and has so much fun there. She has made several friends too. She is learning so much and is growing into a wonderful little girl. I'm convinced so much of it is from being there everyday. I really can't say enough good things about it and the people who run it and work there. Anyway, they had a little party on her birthday and even got her a present. I recently received these pictures and this was by far the cutest one! They got her a princess pillow and blanket set that she can use at naptime. They know how much Libby loves pink too.

Potty Training

Libby has been wearing underwear to school and during daytime hours for 3 days now. Yesterday she did not have a single accident the entire day! We have a BIG GIRL!

Baby news... Last week at my appointment I was told, "It could be awhile until baby comes." This week was a different story. "Tricia, this baby could come at anytime now." WHAT?! So of course, Mike and I went home and panicked because we both have a lot of stuff to do at work before she comes to get everything ready. The good thing is that if she comes at any point today or after I will not have to take a single unpaid day!! Yippee for that! I really would like to get through this weekend though before she's born. I'll be 37 weeks on Saturday and would love to get to that point at least because that's considered full term. Yesterday I had contractions on and off all day at work. I was up most of the night last night but not having contractions. I just didn't feel very well and couldn't seen to settle in to sleep until very late. So who knows.

Wish Us Luck

Libby went to school today wearing big girl underwear. She almost refused to but when I reminded her that all of her friends do she decided it was time. I called at lunch to see how it was going and they said she was still in them. She'd had a few accidents but was doing pretty good all in all. Her preschool is very understanding and helpful through this whole process and I couldn't be more grateful. It's teacher appreciation week and I think now more than ever I need to do something to appreciate them!

This morning Libby picked out some clothes, put them on, and then decided she didn't want to wear them. She needed help because there were buttons on the back of her shirt and she went to Mike to ask for help but he was busy. Then she came to me crying saying she needed help and I was busy. After she asked about 10 times I told her pretty bluntly that I couldn't help her yet and would when I was done. Then she said, "I need my sister!" Mike asked her if she thought her sister would be able to hep her and she said, "No. I just want to cry with her." Not too much longer and that will probably be the truth!

Best Friends

Libby is really turning into a big girl. She has her first best friend. She talks about a lot of friends at school but the girl she likes the most and talks about the most is Piper. This morning when we woke up she wanted to go to school so she could play with Piper. Unfortunately, it's Saturday so school's not open. When we told her that school is closed she said, "I want to have Piper come to my house to play." At this point, I have yet to meet Piper's mom although I am friends with her aunt. This summer we're all going to get together to play. Libby is already friends with Piper's cousin and they have played several times last summer not to mention that he also goes to her school. I think it will be fun for Libby. Piper also has a new little sister who was born in March so I suspect that she and Brynn might be friends too over time.
