Care Bears Galore

Libby now has about a trillion Care Bears (or at least it feels that way). I wanted to take her picture with them and she was just being plain goofy. This is how our photo shoot went:


Libby wanted to pretend she was asleep. I told her she looked grumpy so....


She wanted to look happy in the next one. (Please excuse her Michael Jackson pose!)


Then she said, "One more time!" and wanted to play peek-a-boo.

Did I mention that she also has several Care Bear videos/DVDs and books? She's totally obsessed.

We're getting ready!

Libby went to Grandma and Grandpa's for the weekend so Mike and I took the opportunity to start getting ready for baby #2. Libby also had a great weekend from what I understand - she got to go see Playhouse Disney Live and my mom said that she sang and danced throughout the show.

Brynn's room is almost ready. We have decorations up, we've moved the furniture around and I actually like it much better than I did when it was Libby's room. Libby's baby room was a duck theme and we were tired of it. Now we have a garden theme with butterflies and flowers all in blues, purples, and greens. We even have some cute garden string lights (of course we HAD to buy some for Libby's room too except hers are blue, green, and pink.) I plan to take some pictures of the new and improved baby room soon, it's just not totally cleaned up yet.

We also washed a lot of Libby's old clothes that we had in storage this weekend. I can't believe that I saved some of the stuff I pulled out. Some of it looks like Libby spit up on it, I took it off her, and put it into a box! I know I didn't DO that, but it looks that way. So we're trying to see what wardrobe pieces we need to fill in for Brynn before May. If anyone out there has baby girl's clothing that they want to get rid of, we'd be happy to take it off your hands!

Our Little Comedian

Libby is a very funny little girl. Here are some of the funny things she's said and done over the past few days.

She pretended to paint everyone's finger nails. Then she said, "Mommy's a princess, Libby's a princess, and Daddy's a princess." Mike said, "Libby, let's keep that quiet. We don't want people to know that Daddy's a princess." She tiptoed out of the room whispering, "Shh. Daddy's a princess."

The other night we were getting her ready for bed and there was a toy in her room that needed to go back out in the playroom. She opened her door and took it out there but was out wandering around the toyroom when I called for her. She popped back into her door with her hands on her hips and said, "I'm looking for my car!" Then about a minute later she hopped back into her door hands on hips and said, "I need help looking for my car!"

Most of you probably know how obsessed Libby is with Care Bears. Well, she now has acquired quite the entourage of them. In fact, we've started calling them the "beartourage" because she wants them to travel with us in the car everywhere we go. She will only bring her original Care Bear into stores and things with us, but the rest wait in the car patiently. She has 5 bears that she's toting around. It's quite the armful. She knows all their names (even ones she doesn't have at home) and can tell you what colors they are and what they have on their bellies. But she loves them so people keep buying them for her and she just can't get enough! They all sleep in her bed with her too. I don't know how she doesn't fall out of bed with the amount of things that end up there in the morning. Even if we try to limit things at bedtime, by morning she has gotten out of bed and put the things she wants back in with her. She's very funny. I can't get enough of her little personality.

Libby and Curly

Libby got an American Girl Bitty Baby for Christmas and they have matching pajamas and slippers. I finally was able to get a picture of them both wearing the same pajamas on the same night. We asked her what her baby's name was right after Christmas and she decided to name it "Curly". Who knows why, but that's her baby's name. After I took the picture she brought Curly over to look at the camera and said, "That's you Curly!" when she looked at the picture. She also likes to pretend to change Curly's diaper. I think Libby will be a good big sister.

Um... No Thank You

Libby's politeness has taken off. She's been saying, "Um... no thank you" repeatedly all weekend. It's really funny but sometimes she uses it incorrectly. For example, she thinks that our cat Zeb is actually 2 cats. She thinks we have a cat named Zeb Zeb and one named Zebby. Yesterday I was trying to tell her that both names are for the same cat, just like I am Mom or Mommy. She said, "Um... no thank you." She also tries to use it to get out of things. When we told her it was time for bed she said, "Um... no thank you." Like that would keep her from having to go to bed!

Last night at church she was pretty funny too. I took her to the bathroom at one point and she pointed at my belly and said, "That's my baby sister." I said she was right and then she told me, "Mommy, your belly is getting really big!" Gee thanks Libby. She's also been teling us thank you when we help her. It's actually "Thank you for helping me." She's just been very cute and sweet.

Happy Valentine's Day

Last night Libby got to go to her preschool for a Valentine's Day party. She had a blast. She played with Bella the Bunny, played Play Doh, ate ice cream sundaes, and made a heart necklace. She is very excited to go to that school in March. She thanked us for taking her last night!

She has gotten really funny about things. She has started saying "Um... No thank you" whenever she doesn't want us to do something. At least she's polite about it. She's also started showing me that the baby is in my belly pretty much every day now. I don't think she realizes that either it's going to be a really long time until we see her (96 days to be exact - not that I'm counting) or she doesn't realize that the baby will come out at some point.

Preschool

Libby will be starting preschool March 2nd. We're very excited and she is ready. She can't wait to go to school all the time and play with her friend Jude and Bella the Bunny. We just can't believe what a big girl she is turning into. She is getting really responsible too. She will throw away her own pull-ups (have I mentioned that she is wearing pull-ups now!?), she can put her own dishes in the sink, and puts her shoes away when she takes them off. We can't believe she is almost 3 - it really doesn't seem like that much time has gone by. I'm sure she'll seem even more grown up when Brynn comes to join our family.

Random News

Let me first say that compared to January, my blogging skills are lacking. I just haven't had anything happen of late that feels like it should be blogged about. But hey, what a great start to 2009 as far as the blog goes.

Libby will be starting preschool in March. I haven't told her yet, but I know she'll be excited. She talks about her school all the time even though she's only been twice to visit - once in November and once last month. They have a class pet. She's a bunny named Bella and that's really what Libby is most interested in seeing there.

Everyone says that when kids turn 3 their behavior is worse than 2. If that's true, then we hit the 3's recently. I must say, now that Libby can talk her fits are worse because not only does she cry, but she also yells about what she wants or doesn't want. Hopefully this will be as short lived as the round we went through about a year ago.

I can't believe how uncomfortable I already am with this pregnancy. I have exactly 15 weeks from today when my c-section is planned. That still sounds like a REALLY long time. The baby is sitting very low which makes for lots of bathroom breaks throughout the day. Good thing I can usually swing it at work.
