The only time Libby sits very still is when The Backyardigans are on TV. She just loves that show!
"Pablo and Tyrone are so cool. I even said Uniqua's name the other day but I said "Nika".
"Don't even try to distract me!"
"The Backyardigans aren't singing right now so I can walk with my Dora toy for a little bit."
"Oh, they're singing again... "
This pillow is also a new favorite thing of hers. She will lay on it and drink her milk or cuddle with her stuffed animals. Lately, she has become very fond of her stuffed animals. She is very lovey with her favorites.

Sick Again...
Libby is sick again but luckily (at least for now) it has not caused an ear infection. Last week I woke up on Thursday with a very sore throat that only became worse as the day went on. I was convinced it was strep throat and we were set to go to the zoo the next day with day care so I needed to know if it was strep before I infected everyone on the trip (3 other little girls, a pregnant mom, two other dads, plus our babysitter). The only place open by the time I decided that I needed to check it out was the ER. So, the night before our zoo trip I spent 3 hours at the ER to find out that my super sore throat was just a virus. A few days ago Mike said he thought he had it too and today Libby woke up crabbier than I'd seen her in awhile. Because of the long weekend I knew we wouldn't be able to see anyone until Tuesday so we took her to the doctor today and he said she now has the virus we've both had. It awful - your throat hurts so bad you can hardly talk or eat and lasts about a week. Hopefully for Libby it won't last that long. She has just been miserable this morning.
The following pictures have nothing to do with illness but are cute.

Libby's Newest Words
Libby has been talking lately like a big kid. We can understand her and she is very aware of what is going on around her - much more that I thought possible. Here are some examples:
We had to take Zeb to the vet last weekend for his yearly checkup. When the vet took him in the back to weigh him (which is always an amazingly large number) she looked at us with questioning eyes. When I asked her where they took Zebbie, she replied, "in back" clear as day. Even the vet was surprised.
Looking at a book she will repeatedly, without prompting, say "buh buh" for book.
She was looking at one book in particular that has pictures of animals in it and said zebra after some prompting.
When we tell her "no" she will sometimes look at us and say "op! op!" for "Stop! Stop!". I can't quite figure if she's telling us to stop telling her no or telling herself to stop doing whatever it is she is doing incorrectly. We're not too sure where she came up with that one but it's kind of cute.
She said "bue" at the babysitters for blue.
She said "I love" to a tray full of Cheerios.
She has been attempting to say sit but it comes out a little more like sh*t.
She can also get on her ride on toy all by herself now and is very proud of herself. I wish I could have captured it on video the first time she did it. She looked at me with eyes that said "Mom, did you just see what I did?" I of course cheered for her and she squealed with delight at her accomplishment. She has continued to squeal about this accomplishment all week long.

Libby finally figured out yesterday how to drink from a sippy cup! We are so happy about it although she's not totally convinced it's the way to go yet. But she soon will be. She is also very close to walking. She can push around her ride on toy from the back and walk with it. But if you cheer for her or bring it to her attention she falls down and cries. I guess she doesn't realize she's doing it.

Half a Brain
OK, so the title doesn't refer to anything Libby's done (or not done). Let me tell you a story of how Tricia and I know that we're so alike it's scary.
As I've mentioned before, The Wonder Years is back on TV and we've got all episodes set to record to our DVR. We've fallen pretty far behind lately, so many times on the weekends or after Libby goes to bed, we'll watch one or two. On Saturday afternoon during Libby's 4-hour nap (yes, I said 4 hours...it was great!), we watched 3 of them. One dealt with Kevin and Winnie breaking up, yet again, this time at the Natural History Museum. As they were breaking up, a song was playing that we think was "One is the Loneliest Number"...we're not 100% sure if that was it, but bear with me. Fast forward about 30 minutes and we're in the sunroom - Tricia on the computer and me doing laundry or something. We've both got the Kevin-Winnie breakup song in our head and I say to her, "so honey, if we breakup, what song will be playing in the background?" Without hesitation, both of us, at the same time mind you, belt out "Celebrate Good Times, Come On!" Now, for those of us who don't know us, that's just one example of our sense of humor. We're sharing a brain people! We're not actually breaking up. I repeat, no break up of the Kosher family! But we got a good laugh out of the fact that we are on the same, albeit limited, brain wave.
Now, on to Miss Libby...she's been really thinking about sitting herself on her Dora toy bus. She loves to pull up on it and play with the buttons, but she can't get on the bus without one of us helping her onto it. This weekend she got really brave, as you'll see in the pictures.
MK
"Hey, wanna hear a story?"
She did this all on her own - she grabbed the book, pulled herself onto the bus, and sat Indian style for us.
"I know I can do it..."
"Maybe this will help"
"Hey Mom, is this OK?"

The Zoo
We went to the zoo today with Libby's friends from day care. Libby was such a good girl - she didn't fuss one bit. We got there around 9:15 and left around 2 and she stayed awake the entire time and was generally very content. Her favorite animals were the penguins, zebras, giraffes, and the hippos.
Libby and Daddy - we don't really know what the animal was that we were looking at so I didn't get it in the picture.
In the gift shop wearing elephant ears - there have been 2 new baby elephants born in the last 8 months or so.
With friends in the children's zoo
Riding the carousal with Mommy. Libby was too scared to sit on any of the animals - even the ones that didn't go up and down so we sat on the bench and went around.

Hurricane Libby
A few weeks ago I posted some pictures of Libby playing with our DVDs. We sort of thought that her interest in that would fade like so many other things she plays with. But no... It has become a sort of ritual for her each night to crawl over to the movies and now magazines and begin to pull them all off the shelf. We joked last night that we're going to contact NOAA with the pictures and suggest that they change the name for the "L" hurricane to Libby. Here is evidence of the damage she imposes every night. What you can't see is that she has learned how to crawl behind the end table and pull stuff off over there also. You also can't see that she's knocked about 5-10 DVDs behind the shelf.

Libby is a big girl!
We have given Libby an old cell phone to play with and she "talks" on it just like a big girl. I think this is a preview of her teenage years!
