A couple of nights ago, we decided to go to the mall and walk around...mind you, this is not exactly a novel option for us - we do it probably 4 times a week or so. Regardless, in between getting attacked by the Lotion Nazis and seeing one of Tricia's fellow counselors (as we do about 90% of the time when we're there), we saw a spectacle of a man wandering the mall. Now, this man was pushing a cart, which looked to me like a newspaper cart like the paper-people from my birth-town (Logan, WV) used to push. That's not the spectacle about it. The guy was pretty overweight, which again isn't the spectacle. He was also wearing 3 fanny packs...that's right, 3. Not just one in the front, which is bad enough (but apparently that doesn't stop Hulk Hogan). Not two on either side. But 3 - one in the front, one on the left, and one on the right. Is is that necessary to wear 3 fanny packs? Seriously, what can one person put into 3 fanny packs?
Now, what got me thinking about this guy and this blog entry was his choice of clothing. He was wearing a St. Louis Cardinals hat and a white Kansas City Chiefs jersey. This is the epitome of the Columbia, MO sports fan - they love those teams in red apparently. Me as an outsider to this state just does not grasp this phenomenon. Depending on who you talk to, and where they are originally from (either KC or STL), they think the other side of the state is either a) backwards (STL people about KC) or b) pretentious (KC people about STL). Here we are, smack dab in the middle of the two, and our residents want to have their cake and eat it too. I'm telling you, I think they just like red. In my opinion, if you are going to root for one team within a state, you should just stick with city loyalty. Hey, I'm sure that I'm wrong, but I just think it's ridiculous. My opinion on the CoMo sports fans - pick a side of the state. Sure the Royals may be awful, but if you're going to be a die-hard Chiefs fan, root for those guys. The Rams may have seen their glory days pass them by, but they need some love from Cards fans too.
On second thought, maybe the Rams fans could pair up with the Royals fans - both of those teams are predominately blue, if fashion really matters!

I hate the lotion nazis at the mall. I just walk right past them and don't even look at them. I feel bad for being rude to them but they're annoying and I don't want to buy your $30.00 lotion. A couple of the girls that I work with actually bought their crap. I just laughed at them because they were so easily sold on that product and also because it's so expensive. If I were to buy lotion that expensive it better have gold in it or give me the cure to old age.
